# User\_friends permission

The project requests the following Facebook Login permissions:

```
public_profile
email
user_friends
```

The permission list is defined in the Facebook authentication provider. `user_friends` is needed only when the build uses Facebook friends or other social features that require the user's in-app friend list. The current UGS leaderboard itself is global; enabling UGS Leaderboards does not automatically turn it into a Facebook-friends leaderboard.

This page contains the `user_friends` part of the original Candy Smith guide. The original guide places it after the Facebook Login, App Center, and Android testing steps.

For the permission reference, see Meta's [user\_friends documentation](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/permissions/reference/user_friends/). For the project setup, start with [Facebook and Leaderboard setup](broken://pages/9f4ca1189ebfb9753c29be65db100b45fe872940).

## Before requesting access

Complete these checks first:

* Facebook Login works in a device build with the correct App ID, Client Token, package name, Bundle ID, and key hash.
* The Unity project is linked to the intended UGS project and environment.
* Cloud Save is enabled and the included Cloud Code is uploaded and published.
* The app has a valid privacy policy URL.
* The app contains a visible, working flow that uses Facebook friends. Do not request a permission that the submitted build does not use.
* At least two test accounts are available. The accounts must be allowed to use the app and must both have installed and signed in to the game.

## Request the permission in Meta

Meta can move dashboard labels between releases. The names below refer to the current equivalent of the original Candy Smith flow.

Explain that the game uses the permission to identify Facebook friends who also use the game and display the relevant social data in the game. Keep the explanation specific to the feature shown in the submitted build.
